Why I Incorporate 35mm Film Into My Wedding Photography
There is something about film that feels different from the very first glance. A softness, a quiet imperfection, a sense that the moment was not just captured — but remembered.
As a wedding photographer, I work with both digital and 35mm film photography, intentionally blending the two to create imagery that feels timeless, emotive, and deeply personal. Film has a way of seeing light that feels almost intangible. Highlights bloom softly, tones fall away gently, and colors feel slightly muted—like they’ve already lived a life before reaching you. It’s this quality that makes film wedding photography so unique, and why so many couples are drawn to it.
For me, 35mm film photographs feel the closest to memory. They remind me of childhood photographs — those images you return to years later. Imperfect, yet filled with emotion. There is a familiarity to them, a sense of nostalgia that digital alone cannot fully recreate.
